Platte County Tobacco Prevention Program is a community-based group of volunteers who are committed to educating the public about healthy tobacco free environments and lifestyles.

Formed in 1998, we are committed to the challenge of reducing the prevalence of tobacco use in Platte County.

We are funded by a combination of Tobacco Settlement Trust Funds and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Funds. These monies are distributed through the Substance Abuse Division of the Wyoming Department of Health.

FDA warns of harmful and toxic ingredients

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently released important information on electronic cigarettes, also known as "e-cigarettes.  A press release and additional materials can be found on FDA's Web site.


An FDA Consumer Health Information report gives an excellent summary of the findings and on-going research into these relatively new products and warns of the potential health risks associated with their use.

The Utah House of Representatives has voted 39-35 in favor of a measure that would raise the state tax on cigarettes by $1 per pack, from the current 69.5 cents to about $1.70. -
